Nightmare-ish

Yes, it was.

The Sunday-before-the-Sacrament-Meeting-Presentation-rehearsal, was, in fact, what nightmares are made of. Now I am not placing blame on anyone, but you know, sometimes, that's just how it happens. We just Keep Calm and Carry On.

We'll have another rehearsal this coming Saturday morning, and our Presentation is the next day. I just know it will be wonderful, heavenly, majestic in comparison to this past Sunday's...uh...thing.

And that's all I am going to say about that.

Okay, one more thing.

The 3 year old class on the front row....I am still laughing over! They sat there so reverently and still during the entire two hour sharing time rehearsal! About 10 minutes before it was time to go, one of the little girls started whimpering. She was absolutely worn out, and she just wanted her mommy. Her teacher picked her up and held her. Eventually, when the little angel could not control her choked-up sobs any longer, her kind teacher took her to her momma in Relief Society. And the other three year old angels - seriously, I have never seen anything like it! They were sitting there like zombies, frozen, eyes glazed over. I can't believe how good they were. Bless their little hearts.

Looking forward to Sunday. I have a fun idea for my Singing Time after the Sacrament Meeting Presentation.

  1. Our program isn't until November 20th. Can't wait to hear what you have planned for after the program. I always steal your ideas!!! :)

  2. We just got through our program (Oct 16) and it was certainly unusual this year. Our building is in remodeling so we couldn't have a rehearsal! I did talk everyone into letting me at least show so picture prompts to the children so they could know which song was coming up - we were singing twelve songs! Then, we all got a call that we would not be having meetings after Sacrament meeting, so a full half of our children didn't come to participate in the program since their parents didn't bother to bring them! Because the group was so small, several kids sang softly so that they wouldn't "stick out" and no amount of my gesturing could increase the volume. One of my best singers could only whisper because she had lost her voice. Sigh...It was still a wonderful program, they always are somehow, it just was not what I had planned on! ;o) Lots of sympathy for your rehearsal, hope the program comes off better.

  3. I can relate to your nightmarish program practice because I too found ourselves in the same predicament. Our Sat. practice was horrible!!! Thank heavens for prayer and the fact that we must have had angels with us because our Sunday program was absolutely beautiful! I was in tears many times as the kids sang. Take a deep breath, pray, and rely on the Spirit. It will be wonderful.

  4. Catherine, thank you! And good luck on your program!

Kathleen, reading your comment made ME feel better about our rehearsal! I am so sorry for the way yours went! I can't imagine how that must have been for you, after all that hard work. I am sure that you handled it with grace, and it sounds like the Spirit was still there. I suppose the only thing we can really count on is change. Bah! Thanks for sharing. I feel like you are a good friend.

Collette, it's so true what you said. They always seem to work out, no matter how unorganized the rehearsals are! Thanks for your kind words. I am looking forward to Sunday!

  5. My nightmare-ish experience didn't happen at any of the practices, mine happened on the BIG day of the program. At about 4 am I awoke to food poisoning/stomach flu and I felt horrible. After a couple of hours of vomiting (sorry) the sun began to come up and I thought "Who would not mind getting a call from me asking them to sub for the primary program?" The thought still makes me laugh! I muscled through and went to church, kept arms length from everyone and...tada...it's history! It was a great program!! Missing it was not an option!
    Thanks for all you do!

  6. I am terrified. I am brand new to this calling and we are about to have our program in a couple of weeks. The children are still struggling with some of the songs as they havent had a chorester since April. I pray that the spirit will be with us as we try to get this worked out. It is awesome how they sound like a choir of angels on the songs they know. It brings tears to my eyes.

  7. I see your nightmare, and I raise it by 3! Yes, we have had 3 WEEKS of this nightmare 2 hour practice!! The kids are ALL burned out. They are DONE. I'm done too. I can't wait until next week when they actually do the program. Today the kids didn't really sing that well, but I hope next week when they are singing for their parents and the rest of the congregation, and they haven't already been sitting for an hour and 15 minutes, that our program will be just wonderful! I'm going to pray REALLY hard.
